Aiming to create cutting-edge practical technologies

About us

“Mitsui Chemicals and Kyoto University have established the “Mitsui Chemicals & Kyoto University Digital Chemical Laboratory” with the aim of developing an autonomous automated synthesis experimental system that integrates technologies such as data science and flow synthesis.
This laboratory began operations in April 2023 within the Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University and
is planned to run for five years until March 2028.
The joint directors of the laboratory are Professor Ken-Ichiro Sotowa from Kyoto University and Dr. Kiyoshi Naito, Group Leader at the Production Technology Research Laboratory of Mitsui Chemicals’ Research and Development Division.
The establishment of this lab aims to accelerate the development of high-performance materials by combining the technologies and resources of both institutions to drive new innovations.
Kyoto University brings extensive expertise in areas such as organic chemistry, flow synthesis, and data science, while Mitsui Chemicals excels in organic synthesis technologies and the commercialization of high-performance chemical products. This industry-academia collaboration is expected to generate significant synergies.”
